Chocolate Gravy

This obviously is not "the same" as what my Nanny makes without measuring anything. But it is a delicious and easy recipe none the less.

Ingredients

  • C. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 Pinch salt
  • C. milk
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Pour in the milk and whisk until all the lumps are gone.
  • Continue whisking on medium heat for around 5 minutes, stirring constantly until it begins to boil and gravy thickens to desired consistency. Watch closely as it will stick. Adjust temperature as needed.
  • Once the gravy has reached the desired consistency remove from heat and stir in the butter and the vanilla.

Notes

This is a favorite for our kids. We usually serve with our simple drop biscuit recipe you can also find on the blog. We also have kids who just skip the biscuit all together and eat the gravy with a spoon.
